Most jigsaws end when you place the final piece. This one doesn't.
Catch of the Day is number 26 in the much loved Find The Difference series from House of Puzzles, the Scottish family company with a loyal following among Australian puzzlers.
The artwork is by Keith Stapleton, and it is a beauty. An early morning wharf, fishermen sorting the fresh catch, boats bobbing at their moorings, crates stacked on the dock and seagulls circling overhead, hopeful as ever.
At 1000 pieces, it is a satisfying build on its own. There is plenty of colour and detail to work with, from the hulls of the boats to the busy figures on the dock. It is the kind of scene you can settle into over a few quiet evenings, a cuppa within reach.
Then comes the twist. Hidden through the finished scene are subtle differences, and finding them is a puzzle in itself. It is a lovely reward for all that patient work. Some people spot a few straight away. Others sit with the finished puzzle for days, hunting the last one or two. Either way, you get more time with the picture than a standard jigsaw offers, and that feels like good value.
The quality is what we expect from House of Puzzles.
The board is sustainably sourced and FSC certified, and the pieces are precisely cut, so everything clicks together with that satisfying fit puzzlers love. The finished puzzle measures 48 x 69 cm, a good size for the dining table or a puzzle board.
Who is it for? Anyone who enjoys a coastal scene, certainly. But it is especially good for puzzlers who like a little extra challenge, and for households where a finished jigsaw tends to sit on the table for a while before being packed away. This one earns its spot.
Catch of the Day is $34.99 with free shipping on orders over $150. As with everything in our shop, it is brand new, sold by an Australian family owned business that genuinely loves jigsaws.
